Figge Museum, Davenport, Iowa

I spent some time this afternoon at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, close to my home town. They have a nice exhibition with work by Marsden Hartley, Arthur Dove and Stuart Davis, all early American abstractionists. The building itself is striking, designed by British architect David Chipperfield. One of the more interesting factoids about the museum is that fifty percent of the public spaces are devoted to educational and social programming. Alas, no cameras are allowed inside the building.
