Impeach Bush, Already

George Washington University Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley makes a strong argument for impeaching Bush over new revelations in the slow-brewing domestic wiretapping scandal. (via Crooks and Liars).

Think it can’t happen to you? What the Bush Administration does sets the tone of acceptablity for the rest of the country. The NYPD investigated Alicia Keys, Jay Z, LL Cool J, P Diddy and many other citizens in the run up to the 2004 Republican National Convention. In all, over 600 pages of secret NYPD intelligence files were released recently as part of a lawsuit brought by the New York Civil Liberties Union on behalf of hundreds of arrested demonstrators.

It’s a slippery slope to a totalitarian police state when you justify spying on your own citizens on national security grounds for holding a concert or expressing their opinion. Or did they really expect Alicia Keys to start tossin’ Molotovs?
