Cookie Cutter Websites

Tim Porter at First Draft has an interesting essay on the perils of generic websites, and the poorly thought out business models that spawn them. I read the SF Gate daily, a habit I picked up while living in SF, but I had no idea that it got over seven million unique visitors per month. It would be a shame if corporate bean counters are able to persuade Singleton to consolidate the Gate and other newspapers’ sites under the guise of improvement. What we need is more local voices in the media, not less.
