I was selling t-shirts in Union Square a few days after “Snowmageddon” and Clay Pigeon of The Dusty Show approached me and asked if I’d like to be interviewed. We covered New Year’s resolutions, Iowa, and Obama in addition to sharing stories about the blizzard that ate Brooklyn. I’m posting an excerpt of the show on Greymatters, but you can listen to the entire 12-30-10 show at WFMU’s website.
I was invited by the Executive Producer of BCAT’s The What TV to be on their show and promote General Assembly. Thanks to my model, Nikki Phillip, and the crew for making the filming so much fun. My interview begins at 14:17. This airs on November 13th in NYC.
For those interested in my t-shirt mongering, here’s an update: I just got in an order of onesies (size 0-3), some short and long sleeved crew necks and organic cotton scoop necks. I’ll also be printing the last of my “supergirl” shirts with the pigtail image. I’ve got twelve shirts left, and when they’re gone, they’re gone.
I’m also working on more art about buildings and food.
The factory has just produced a new batch of shirts. A run of twelve white tees with the Robot Fight image in a red-orange-red rainbow roll. And a few army green shirts with the new glow-in-the-dark UFO v. Monster image.
In order to sell shirts in certain places, I need to create a “political” shirt that satisfies a freedom of expression clause in NYC’s laws covering t-shirt mongers such as myself. So I think I’ll be re-working this image of an elephant giving the finger. I think that should count, yes?
We’ve just gotten a new shipment of shirts in, and I took a few pics. I think the Supergirl shirt will look great with the pigtails icon in red. I’m also posting a pic of the grey shirt, because I really like the color!
I have 2X crew shirts in army and white, S – XL in all three colors. The “supergirl” shirt is in medium only!
In keeping with the “Clothing the Masses” motto, I’ve started a General Assembly tag on my blog so that I can create this page. We hope this will facilitate communicating with customers and help the masses to get the shirts in the size and color they want!
Custom ordering may prove to be an insane thing to do as business increases, but for the time-being, at least, we’re open to the experimental merging of t-shirts and new media.
I’ll start posting pics of the shirts I get in here. I’ll also post sizes under this tag, since I know I have a couple of outstanding design/size/color requests from the last market. We at General Assembly view this as a collaborative process between us and our customers united in a single goal: getting the ideal t-shirt to the people!
If you would like to order a custom size/color/design combo, there is a very basic order page here. I’ll continue making upgrades to the capitalist ordering system as needed.
This will be on one of General Assembly’s next shirts. I’m thinking about making a two-color version if there’s enough interest…and I’ve got a tasty UFO invasion illustration that I’ll put up soon, which will be new shirt design #2.
I’ve been busy this week getting ready for the launch of the General Assembly t-shirt line, and just added a new page for online ordering. I’ll be using an application on the iPhone to process credit card transactions. Ain’t technology great?
I’ve also updated the designs gallery, adding thumbnails and an image for an upcoming shirt design – the United Federation of Wrestlers logo.
